Sock Kit with an Added Bonus!!

Sock Kit with an Added Bonus is our latest local charity support project. Have you heard of Teen and Kids Closet? Teen and Kids Closet is all about dignity for an often-overlooked population children in need. The idea is simple. They give new or gently used clothing to children who need it for free. Their focus is youth in foster care or in poverty. Most of the youth they serve have no other access to nice clothes. To learn more about their work click here.

The sock kit we have put together is for you. Make yourself a nice pair of socks out of our wonderful hand dyed yarns. Enjoy every stitch and think about how much good your sock kit has done. When you buy a kit we will donate a brand new pack of socks (at least 8 pairs = approximately $13) to Teens and Kids Closet. Now is the time to do this because the weather will turn chilly by early October. Some of these teens are aged out of foster care and are now homeless. Most of you know that socks and underwear are the number one item the homeless need. We here at The Nook want to help keep these kids feet warm.

Your Sock Kit with an Added Bonus will contain the following:

*One skein of hand dyed sock yarn from one of our Indie Dyers. We have yarns from Triology (here) Lynn's Fine Yarn (here) Lyrical Fibers (here) Seracraft (here) and Gracelynn (here). Pick out what skein you want and put a note on your checkout with your choice. We will put it in the project bag for you. You may pick it up or we will ship.

* All yarn is 75% Superwash Merino and 25% nylon

* All yarn is sock weight

*A sock pattern designed by the owner Esther Wheeler

*A little bag containing Katrinkles goodies hand made stitch markers and other little items that will make you smile!

* A packet of information on Teens and Kids Closet.

*A Project Bag to hold all of it in one fun place!


Not interested in making another pair of socks but want to help? Bring a package of socks for children from infancy up to teenage to The Nook and we will make sure they get to Teens and Kids Closet.

This project will be running from the beginning of September until the end of October.
